Ark Quest

This school was God's idea

In 2008, Calvine Ominde started a feeding program for 8 children in his village. Within 3 years, this venture developed into a school. Currently, Ark Quest Education Centre provides education and two meals per day for over 100 students. It is a private Christian school and, though registered with the Kenyan Ministry of Education, receives no government funding. Many students cannot afford the fees and therefore supporting these students through the INCAP program, will help to ensure these children receive a quality education and that the operational expenses of the school are being met.

The aim of the school and its partners here in New Zealand is to further develop income-producing projects to ensure the school operates on its own merits in the future. These projects are still in their early stages and they need your help and support to ensure they continue and become a success. Why not consider supporting a student at the Ark Quest Education Centre or helping to support one of the livelihood program initiatives.

Thanks to all who responded to the needs that were shared in our last blog. Since then, thanks to your generosity and the extra support from International Needs, Calvine has been able to meet a number of the ongoing needs of the school. He shares his gratitude below:

“Thank you so much for your support to us towards our salaries, purchasing food for the school, servicing our school pump and tank and maintenance of the school van. We are always humbled here by your overwhelming love and support to us.”

We are also excited to report that the second stage of building the permanent classrooms has begun. This will mean another 3 classrooms are being constructed. It is imperative that these new classrooms are completed as soon as possible, as the present school is rapidly deteriorating with a number of classrooms now unusable.

While the dairy and chicken projects are running smoothly at present, you will see from the picture above, the current classrooms are literally falling apart. We are so thrilled that the next stage is happening right now!
