In Dhaka, Bangladesh, hundreds of thousands of children live on the streets without the safety of a home, access to education, or consistent care. Many face extreme poverty, family breakdown, abuse, and exploitation.

Through two Drop-In Centres — the Banasree Drop-In Center (BDIC) for street-connected and working children, and the Kamlapur Drop-In Girls’ Center (KDIC) for at-risk girls — International Needs Bangladesh provides safe spaces where children can find care, stability, and hope.

These centres offer more than basic support — they create opportunities for children to learn, heal, and rebuild their futures.

Objectives

• Providing safe spaces where children receive food, care, and protection
• Delivering informal education in literacy, numeracy, and life skills
• Supporting physical health through nutrition, hygiene, and medical care
• Offering emotional and psychological support for trauma and recovery
• Providing vocational training for older children and girls
• Supporting family reintegration where safe and possible

Progress

Each week, hundreds of children access safe care and support through the Drop-In Centres.

At Banasree Drop-In Center:

• Children receive education, school materials, and life skills training
• Participation in learning activities is improving confidence and engagement
• Nutrition and hygiene support are improving children’s health

At Kamlapur Drop-In Girls’ Center:

• Girls receive safe shelter, meals, and emotional support
• Education, life skills, and vocational training are helping prepare them for the future
• Children are being safely reunited with their families where possible

These centres are helping children move from vulnerability toward safety, stability, and hope.

These centres provide more than daily care — they offer children a pathway away from the streets and toward safety, education, and a brighter future.
