Sandra was born with her left leg significantly shorter than her right, causing her increasing discomfort as she grew older. Over time, she developed persistent pain in her pelvic region and began struggling to walk. Her caregivers did their best to help by improvising crutches, but Sandra found it difficult and uncomfortable to move with them.
As a pupil at Kimanya Primary School in Kayunga District, a partner school of International Needs Uganda (INUG) that promotes disability inclusion, Sandra was brought to one of the medical camps organized by International Needs. After thorough evaluation, she was recommended for an orthopedic limb. INUG worked with a partner agency to provide the necessary support and resources.
Thanks to this intervention, Sandra now moves with ease and is able to attend school regularly, opening up new opportunities for her education and future.
