Puthia Village
Livelihood programs for the Puthia Village, Northern Bangladesh
International Needs Bangladesh has been able to support the village with food relief. Now they would like to build new toilets for the families in the village and set up livelihood programs. Allowing them to generate their own income and providing a way out of poverty for these families. The families will be trained in chicken rearing, vegetable growing and tailoring/sewing for the women.
The current toilets are unsafe and pose a significant health risk to the village as the faeces and urine from the toilets go straight into the river. Children and women downstream collect water from the river to drink and water borne diseases can be prevalent. Every year millions of children and people around the world die from water borne diseases.
Would you consider sponsoring a livelihood program to help bring a family out of poverty by providing education to the parents so that they can learn to grow their own food and provide for their family?
Or could you help restore hope and dignity for the people of the Puthia Village, by helping International Needs build new, safe and clean toilets for families in the village. Each toilet costs $300.
