Story of Transformation

Delali cannot imagine what she would have done if not for the support she is receiving

Kudiewu Delali is a fashion trainee who comes from a very small island, Awadiwoe Kome, close to the Kebenu community. She lives there with her siblings, uncles and Aunties. Her parents live in Cote d’ Ivoire in a small fishing community in search of greener pastures. Her parents only travel to Ghana once every year. After Junior High School, Delali used to weave fish traps with her other siblings on the island for a living. For her, life on the island is a very peaceful one. She enrolled at CEED after several interventions by the INCAP Coordinator who is now the team leader at CEED.
After a little over a year of training, Delali can sew a number of things for herself and others. She doesn’t have to weave traps and wait for the next available boat or canoe to buy her traps before she is able to buy her basic needs. Currently, due to the outbreak of the Corona Virus, a lot of people are no more patronizing fish traps and Delali cannot imagine what she would have done if not for the support she is receiving in skills training at CEED. Delali enjoys free lunch at School, she also gets support with training materials. Recently, Delali was part of the team that travelled to the Ho Technical University to gain some level of exposure beyond their immediate communities and Adidome. For her, it was her very first time traveling beyond Adidome and stepping foot on a university campus.
She was excited about the visit and hopes to work hard and further her education to the university in the near future.
